Anita's Examples - NorwayRose Gown in another colorI never looked great in pink, but Arwen's "Rose Dress" is oh so beautiful! What to do? Make it in a colour I like: maroon! I daftedr a pattern to resemble, but not copy, the "Rose Dress". The underdress is made from shimmery golden-brown fabric, and the overdress is crushed velvet. The overdress fastens in front with hook-and-eye clasps. The neckline is trimmed with a store-bought gold-and-copper trimming. The sleeves are two pieces, with hand-embroideries above the elbows. I made my own pattern to resemble the acid-etching which I didn't have a clue how to do! the lower sleeves are bag-lined with a copper organza, and are petal-shaped (and huge petals at that, almost full circles! The sleeves almost touch the floor.).
