Anita - NorwayBlood Red Elven GownThis was my first dress ever (made last year), but due to an unfortunate accident with a campfire it was ruined. I didn't get to fixing it before now. The pattern for the overdress was drafted by me and my mother (needed a little help the first time). The overdress has seams in the sides, and has a slight train. The fabric is a black shimmery stretch, which can sometimes be mistaken for dark blue or even dark green. The underdress is not an underdress, but an "under jumper". The upper sleeves are double, with a shimmery transparent stretch fabric on top of a dark red cotton. They go all the way down to the wrists. The lower sleeves are red velvet - and lots of it! The trimmings in the neckline and above the elbows are made from the edges of a shawl. I think it turned out quite nicely, but just after I finished it I found the perfect brocade for the upper sleeves and a perfect trimming! So I know I have to make an upgraded version soon, with the overdress in velvet this time.
