Arwen's Chase Dress

My mom and I used Vogue 1290 as the main pattern for my costume. We used the rolled collar pattern from this website and designed our own skirt petal and sleeve patterns. We used stretch suede for the green parts of the costume. The white under sleeves/petals are a cream colored silk essence. Instead of figuring out how to etch the suede we used fuzzy fabric for the inner collar. We changed the colors because I thought they were more elven and would look better on me.

I made the belt buckle out of craft wire and solder. We used ribbon to close the dress and as the belt.

My mom did the embroidery on the sleeves and I did embroidery on the seams. The pants I got on sale at the mall.

Make sure you do a temporary stitch first! That is my biggest piece of advice since it makes taking out the stitches a lot easier.

And to all my fellow teens who are helping their mothers help out as much as you can. I did and I feel that my costume is truly my own because I did.
