Snowflake Edge
The edged of the robe is encircled with 3-D snowflakes -- no two alike.
The are smallest in front and the biggest is on the back of the train. They are
constructed in layers, the bottom of which is heavy paper. Next is 1/4
inch close cell form. Tops are painted with iridescent white paint.
After a 2nd layer, fine glitter is applied. Sides are painted in light
blue, courser glitter is used. Blue decorations is also t-shirt paint.
Stones are placed in center of the paint blops.
A tacky glue, used for removable appliqués is used to position them during
wear. The snowflakes are stored separately.
Here is a look at each snowflake and their position on the robe. They
are jeweled with glitter, glitter paint, glass gems and rhinestones.
Start on the left and apply them around

Robe is stored with out the foam snowflakes so
the robe can just be stored easily in a box |
|
Snow flakes are stored padded in a bag.
They rest on wax paper since their backs have a tacky glue that allows them
to be removed for storage. |
|
Each snowflake is number on the underside.
They are applied in order starting on the left. The back side is actually
the pattern used to cut the snowflakes. The two were bonded with a
spray on ahesive. |
|
Start on the left to apply them |
|
Just apply the snow flake. Line up the
points with the red beads. Keep pressing each one down. |
|
I have successfully left the snowflakes
positioned for 5 days at a time with no problem when the gown was part of an
international exhibit.
If the snowflakes get less tacky, glue just needs to be
reapplied. |
