The Academy recognizes legendary production executive Irving Thalberg
(1899-1936) with a major gallery exhibition featuring unpublished
photographs, enlightening documents, poster art, props and costumes from
motion pictures overseen by Hollywood’s original “Boy Wonder.” ... The
exhibition includes portraits by George Hurrell and Clarence Bull of many of
Thalberg’s stars.... Also on display will be costumes designed by Adrian and
set designs by Cedric Gibbons.

The Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society, Inc. and the Old Miners
Association are delighted to announce the 1800's Country Fair and Loggers
Jubilee at their permanent site on the north shore of Big Bear Lake!
Hosted in the lovely little town of Fawnskin, the event will showcase the
entire nineteenth century, including Victoriana, pioneers, the wild west,
old miners, loggers, and the American civil war. Come prepared to encounter
literary characters and authors, historical figures, shoot outs in the
streets, arrests and judgments from the "hangin' judge." There will be
period entertainment and games. The Loggers Jubilee competitions, featuring
everything from pole-climbing to tomahawk throwing to chainsaw events and
more, will be open to the general public.
While not all visitors come in costume, a great many do. The site will

way through history to the current conflicts.

Stagecoach Day / Fall Festival - Los Encinos State Historic Park
Los Encinos State Historic Park in Encino will host "Stagecoach Day"
celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the start of scheduled stagecoach
service in California. An actual stagecoach with horses, traveling the
old Overland Mail route (Ventura Blvd) from Campo de Cahuenga in Universal
City to Los Encinos and then to the Leonis Adobe in Calabasas. It is
scheduled to arrive at Los Encinos around mid day. The program at Los
Encinos will feature two 19th Century style bands, Victorian dancing, a
blacksmith, a telegraph office, children's games, tours of the restored 1849
adobe and participants in authentic Victorian costume.
Pack a picnic and stay the day--admission is free. Old West attire is
encouraged (no weapons please)
Dance to the Big Band music of Dean Mora and his Orchestra while you dine
at the award winning Cicada restaurant. Features a fabulous floor show
by the Satin Dollz Pin-up Dancers. Also included is an exclusive after
party at the art deco 1928 Oviatt Penthouse.
