The Adventures of Don Juan - Movie Costumes

bulletFrom exhibit: Dressed in Colors: The Costumes
bulletExhibited at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood - 2009

Academy Award for Color Costume Design, 1949.  Leah Rhodes, Travilla and Marjorie Best costume designers.

Color is more accurate here.  Royal blue silk satin, cream crinkle silk.

First pic, the color is truer, 2nd is in better focus. Sleeve and edge of neck details.  Again, the yellowish cast photo is clearer.
Lacking and trim ribbon is velvet, bluish green.
Blouse is cream crinkled silk.  The edges are finished.  It's hard to tell if the gather line of the blouse (about 1" down) is cord or thin elastic. Gold tone with inset pearls and center sapphire.  Necklace also has a small relate of pearl and sapphire beads.

Royal blue silk satin ball gown with tabbed waist trimmed in blue-green velvet ribbon and long crystal pleated chiffon sleeves with self lacing trimming.

Costume designed by Leah Rhoades for Queen Margaret (Viveca Linfors) in "The Adventures of Don Juan (1948).  Costumes for the film designed by Leah Rhodes, Travilla and Marjorie Best.  Receipt of the Academy Award for Color Costume Design in 1949.

Please note:  All photos on this page were taken by Cat Devereaux unless other wise noted.  These were taken without tripod with available light.  They've been sized to a point where the costume details show best.  Most are in good focus.  If you are having trouble with the clarity, size them down.  Color differences are related to adjustments.  See text for notes on best color.
