Re–Designing History: FIDM Museum Study Collection, 1850-2000

FIDM - Disney Alice in Wonderland Design Exhibition

Welcome to Wonderland!  See Colleen Atwood's original costumes from the 2010 Alice in Wonderland. Also showcased: Alice–inspired clothing and products designed by a variety of celebrities, designers, and fashion icons, including Sue Wong, Tom Binns, Avril Lavigne, and FIDM Alumni.

Playford-to-Present - Annual Southern California English Country Dance Ball

The Playford-to-the-Present Ball is for experienced English Country dancers. Dances will be lightly prompted, but will not be taught. It is expected that all dancers attending will be familiar with basic and intermediate ECD figures.

Ball dance review starts at 1:30.  4:30 is dinner break, or "bring your own tea time".  Evening includes light refreshments.

Ball Practice and Style Workshops will be held the afternoons of Sunday, August 29 and Sunday, September 19. Pre-ball review of advanced dances will take place the afternoon of the ball (additional admission required for these events).   See their website for more dance locations for practice and experience.

FIDM - The Art of Costume Design Illustration

The Fantastical Worlds of Ray Harryhausen

With unprecedented cooperation from, and access to, the Ray Harryhausen collection, an incredible array of original models, drawings, storyboards and behind-the-scenes photographs are on view.  Harryhausen created Dynamation, an original technique that allowed armatured models to be integrated into live-action footage

The Gossiper's Grapevine: A Living History Tour at Homestead Museum

Travel back in time.  Heard any good gossip lately? Two living history characters from the 1920s will share the latest that they have heard as they take you on a tour through La Casa Nueva.

Alice in Wonderland fan event at Hollywood & Highland

Appearances by Tim Burton and some cast members, Colleen Atwood the costume designer.  Live music from the artists of Almost Alice.  Music and costume contest.

Colleen Atwood will be judging the fan costume contest.  Winners get VIP seating at El Capitan where some of the 3-d footage will be screened.
