Elven Grove, Part 26

Here we feature even more costumes from our folks who have recreated some of the wonders of the Elven folks.

Work here represents recreations at all skill levels.

Picture hyperlinks will open to more details about the costumes.

Arwen Wedding Crown

Karin - South Africa

I just wanted to say thanks for the site! Your plans for the Arwen crown really helped my mom (a silversmith) to make me a replica for my wedding on the 2nd of September 2006. We simplified it a bit because i wore a veil as well.  She made the whole thing out of sterling silver. It took her two months! I think it came out great!

Blood Red Gown

Misty - Connecticut, USA

Patterns: I built my own pattern for this dress using other dresses I've made, and my own measurements.

Fabric: I get most all of my fabrics from JoAnn's or Walmart. (I've had some unpleasant experiences with online fabric ordering). For this dress I used a red velveteen for the sleeves, black velvet for the dress body, and a broadcloth paisley print for the trim and underdress. (This dress is in two pieces, as can be seen on the Blood Red Dress section on this site, and was invaluable to me!) An 1" wide gold lace trim which I linked together for the overdress trim and sleeve trim. I got all of my fabric from JoAnn's, and it cost me about 100$ altogether. This was by far the easiest dress I've done so far!

Experience: This dress is my fourth LotR's gown.  I still consider myself a major sewing novice! I am entirely self-taught so far, and this dress was the first dress that I installed a zipper in (It was much easier than I thought!).
