Elven Grove, Part 20
Here we feature even more costumes from our folks who have recreated some of the
wonders of the Elven folks.
Work here represents recreations at all skill levels.

The Singing Elf
|
Hinke - Neatherlands
Farewell Dress,. black version
It's made of a fine shiny and soft fabric with a rose
pattern in it. I use this gown for singing in concerts.

Elven Vulcan Cross Culture
Gown
|
I mixed Elven and Vulcan culture in this piece. It's a
beautiful white dress with a robe. The dress is a fabric with small leaf
patterns in it.
I wear a simple dress under it and put on the white one
like a coat. It doesn't show on the picture but the lower sleeves of the
white dress are leaf patterned, somewhat similar to for example the
upper sleeves on Legolas' jacket. It was tricky work. The picture is
made by a good friend of mine Nathalie. |
Third Age Elven Armor
|
For the armor I used funfoam. I modified the patterns
from Julia's website to make them larger in the chest and hip. I tried
to connect plates relatively seamlessly, mostly by brushing glue on the
seams and reinforcing it with hidden pieces of foam.
For the clothing, I used a simple red cotton for the
skirt and maille shirt backing. The maille has been made of strips of a
cut up plastic garbage bag since I'm on a budget. I have sewn the
strips onto the shirt and then gave it a glue coating as the plastic
will curl when you spray paint it. I did the same with the maille skirt.
I've found a cheap fabric which I have no clue what to name is but it
turned out to be excellent for the undershirt with sleeves.
I've connected the red skirt to it for convenience. The
cape is made of a red fabric which might be cotton. It is very soft and
flowing so excellent for a cape :) I've also made it much longer than
Haldir's as I think short capes don't look so cool, at least not for a
captain of the Galadrim ;) |
Elvish Wedding
Arwen's Requiem Gown
|
Cassandra The velvet is 100% rayon, the
underdress is acetate/rayon with embroidered metallic thread. The
bullion trim was from an Indian sari and trim shop, the thin trim on the
overdress is a Chinese trim. The lower sleeves are organza.
