Rachael - Michigan, USADark Blue Elven DressI made this dress from a sketch of a statuette that I saw while shopping with my friend (who I made this dress for) in Maine. We thought it was gorgeous and so decided to collaborate and make it. We used dark blue polyester taffeta for most of the dress. The right side of the fabric had velvet flowers all over it but we loved the color so we turned the fabric inside out. The cream parts are silk essence. The quilting on the undersleeve was done by machine. The rest of the ribbon (except for the neckline), beading and riveting was all done by hand. I used gold colored glass seed beads for the cross sections of the quilting. The red beads have a pearlescent or iridescent wash and look kinda like jewels. I drafted this pattern using many measurements and a little (read TONS) of patience. But all in all I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope that my fellow costumers and fans enjoy it too.
