Elizabeth's Purple Gown

Elizabeth: the Golden Era - Movie Costumes

bulletExhibited at the Arcllight Cinema in Hollywood - October 2007
bulletAll photos by Garfeimao, unless otherwise noted

Elizabeth's purple silk-moiré gown.  Front closing gown.  Orated beaded swag across the front of the bodice.  While many of the pictures appear blue-ish, in person the dress is very deep purple.

Note the shape of the sleeve -- check elbow.

Bottom anchor point of the swag Can even see how the strings of beads are anchored with little crimp beads to an understructure of metal with decorate piece on top.
Back of swag is formed from big alternating stones Note the sleeve and neck treatment -- layers of velvet and silk
Swag is anchored on the shoulder with a decorative star. Costume Card in Lobby: Supremacy.  Purple silk moiré robe, growing in stature to unapproachable scale and authority.  Military command sealed with cut steel orders across a hardened bodice.

Neckline and Ruff

Little clovers are whip-stitched onto the top of neckline.  Ruff appears to be the same materials.  While the ruff may be some kind of heavily starched lace, to my eye it looks like a plastic kitchen scrubbing sponge that has had it's layers separated and then gathered again. Necklace is teardrop purple beads with small white beads between.  All plastic.  (Note you can make the big plastic beads sparkle more by coating in clear nail polish.)

Bodice Closing

Cuffs & skirt

Laces appear different colors here because of the extreme lightening..

Hem decoration & bottom of the skirt

Un-lightened Extreme lightened, same photo.  Note the appearance of a very open flowery lace with occasional big beads on the flowers.
Center of skirt Same, lightened some
Extreme lightening.  Note the pattern of the stones, a wave. Same same pattern on the bottom
