Rosie and Merry
Rosie's
bodice was made from McCalls 2242.
I replaced the zipper with grommets and
ribbon. A water glass was used to trace the circle for the cutout in the
front. The circle was reinforced with a tight zigzag stitch and then
covered with a blue trim. The three tiered skirt is actually a single layer
with the two bottom layers stitched to the first at the bottom.
Her Wig is "Brooke 921" from Witchwigs
Merry's vest was made from Simplicity 8808.
Not much alteration was needed other than
changing the number of buttons. His shirt came from McCalls 8409. The
sleeves were widened, the cuffs doubled in length, collar enlarged and the
front pleat eliminated. The pants were obtained from the Salvation Army and
are a brown corduroy, simply cut off at the calf with belt loops, metal tags
etc. removed. Merry's wig is a ladies curly wig that has been wet,
straightened and jelled to create a hobbit look. Curly doll hair has been
glued to the tops of both the Hobbit's feet
Girl Hobbit
The
bodice is made from Butterick 3071. The neckline was lowered and rounded.
The front bottom edge of the bodice was squared. Grommets and ribbon
replaced the zipper. The Blouse was made from Butterick 6196. The sleeves
were shortened, otherwise the pattern was used as is. The skirt was made by
simply gathering a length of fabric- putting in a waistband and hemming.
The underskirt is really only a strip of fabric sewn to the overskirt. The
apron is a square of fabric gathered at the top with a waistband/ ties
attached. Fabrics are all cotton.
