Cheryl's Family
I think I may have had more fun making the costumes than the kids
had wearing them, but only slightly : )
Arwen
The
lavender cotton underskirt with elastic waist and petal shaped hem, was sewn
from leftover fabric. The white crinkly cotton undershirt was purchased. The
coat was a women's dress purchased form a thrift store, cut down and
modified, including grey bodice laces and bell sleeves. The belt is wide
grey blanket satin with a gold buckle salvaged from a thrift store belt.
Black boots, the official evenstar costume necklace, ear tips and a plastic
sword complete the costume. (note: this pic was taken before make-up
and hair were done)

Galadriel
The dress is made of white polyester crushed velvet fabric (thanks to
Ronnie's scrapbook entry) from my drawings by trial and error. It has a
simple bodice, sleeves that are fitted to the elbow and the flare to beyond
the wrist, and a low waist with a steep flowing a-line skirt. In order to
avoid complicated zippers etc. I put gussets in the side seams of the waist
area, allowing the dress to go over my daughter's head and yet still have
the fitted look that the costume requires. The belt is a cut and modified
thrift store belt with sequin and glitter embellishment. The crown is made
of coated wire and metallic paper wire (found at university art). The white
cloak was purchased on ebay and the pitcher was from Marshalls.

Frodo
The
shirt, vest, pants, and belt were all slightly altered thrift store finds.
The Hobbit feet were made from funny feet slippers that I modified with
acrylic paints and hobby hair. More hair was added to Ian's legs with spirit
gum to hide the transition. The cloak was made from grey felt and the ring,
broach, and sword were purchased form an online store. The scabbard was made
of brown nagahide, detailed with silver sharpie pen and acrylic paint.
