One Suit for the Whole Voyage
Jack Driscol is tricked to sale with the S. S. Venture by making a
mistake of expecting a check from Carl. Therefore, his has just what
he was wearing when they launched - his tweed suit.
The costumers have taken this one set of clothing and engineered a number
of different costume looks depending on the scene. The picture study
is broken down by scene because if you reproduce Jack's costume, you need to
pick which scene you are creating. Each of the looks is vastly
different... both in clothing pieces, wear patterns, accessories and
attitude.
Jack's Costume Index
This photo study is in scene order. If you are studying a specific
item of clothing you will have to jump around a bit.
Aboard the S. S. Venture
He starts with everything, tweed jacket and vest, tie, dress shirt, tan
trousers.
Also has hat and wovercoat that's carried. He also wears his wrist
watch throughout the movie.
He's still very proper as he starts to write, despite the fact that his
office is the ship's hold. He types his script with his tie on and
only one button undone. His cuffs stay buttoned up.
It doesn't take long. He looses his stiffness as he settled in. He
sheds the tie, another button comes undone on the shirt, the vest is
unbuttoned and *shock* he rolls his sleeves up. just a bit.

Ready to jump ship. Note the
overcoat is a medium brown here. (The full outfit he's on ship
with.) |

|
Note raw edge of tie and plainness of
trousers |

Gold wrist watch, brown leather band, rectangular case
with a slight curve. |
When the who group first heads to Skull Island, Jack is still wearing the
same outfit, but one or two more buttons are undone so that now his
undershirt is visible.
These are some of the highest resolution images we have. Jack has
his overcoat on over the others layers - somehow the coat vanishes
come morning light and then reappears again in New York. Guess that
key marked the spot before he started getting chased by dinosaurs.
Also at this point he picks up a couple of important accessories -- his
back pack and tommy gun. He leaves the vest on the ship.
As the action gets tough, the shirt gets unbuttoned... and the movie
folks add sweat and dirt for that more rugged look.
