Arrow tips
Totally just getting started here. It's not a costume, but since
it's a major accessory for the movie, we're going to carry a bit here.
Until we get organized here, see our LOTR Costume yahoo archives
Arrow Tips
Legolas' arrows are either narrow blade or the 'bodkin' type, which is
correct for medieval warfare arrows as opposed to the wide cutting blades
that are used for hunting. The 'bodkin' will pierce link armor and between
the joints of plate armor.
Fletching

To match Legolas' arrows, if you don't do your own fletching (gluing the
feather fletches to the arrows) you need to tell whoever makes up your
arrows to straight fletch them, not helical or spiral. Quite frankly,
helical fletching on arrows this big, although not authentic for either SCA
or LOTR, is much better for aerodynamics as it makes the arrows spin better
and therefore more stable in flight.
