The Unknown

2017 Update Get ready for a frightful night at the Haunted Adventure Tour.  The Burbank Nature Docents will lead you on a frightening tour of the Starlight Bowl turned into a haunted house. This terrifying tour is very scary and children under 6 years old will not be allowed. No refunds for scared participants.  Haunting since 1996.

No flashlights, costumes or props.  Wear comfortable shoes.  Will walk up and down hills.

2017 Update Magic Lantern Creations, Inc. presents their haunting of the San Fernando Valley with a high-tech outdoor haunt with fully scripted story and original score.  Created by Hollywood professionals and supported by fabulous friends and neighbors.  Featured on HGTV .

Ghost Train in Travel Town

2017 Update Playful Spooks invade the mini-trains at Griffith Park. Evening rides feature 30 display around the track. Come ride a train!  There is no light at the end of our tunnel! Your adventure will unfold as you ride 1/8 scale trains, immersing you in an imaginary dream world of 30 professionally-designed displays, with theatrical lights and sound, projections, animatronics, fog, and pyrotechnic effects. The show is designed to be spooky, yet family friendly; there is no blood or gore, and no actors will jump out or touch you.

The Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum has been demonstrates railroads in miniature, 3 different gauges, for almost 50 Years. It has been haunting since 2001. Checkout pictures from other years.  Rolling since 2001.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride – Secret Society

2017 Update To which part of the Secret Society do you belong?  The Elite or The Deranged?  You will be judged and sent down the path of your status in this revolutionary twist that will send hayriders down one of two different paths, giving hayriders–which have now been declared “society members”–different experiences.   Inside the gates of the society, members will bear witness to the clandestine lives of their faction and in a shocking turn, will be commandeered by the society and sent into an initiation, confronting the GHOSTS OF HAYRIDES PAST…ON FOOT, FACE TO FACE.  That’s right, for the first time ever, guests will leave the safety of the hay wagon. Upon returning to their wagon, society members will continue down the secret road of power, corruption, influence, tyranny, and evil, allowing members to see that this day is not all about costumes and candy.

As tractor drawn hay-filled wagons make their way through the forest, scenes of pure horror await in the  dark, haunted woods of the OLD ZOO, in the dead of night. DON’T OPEN YOUR EYES. FALLEN SAINTS: Dia de los Muertos – Force of Nature

Horror Made Here:  A Festival of Frights  New Event

2017 Update Take our night tour that include a chilling look behind-the-lens of some of the most memorable horror scenes.  The Neibolt House: Fans who missed the highly popular haunted house will get a chance to experience this terrifying dark maze replica of “Where IT Lives” at Horror Made Here. Guests will be guided by “Georgie” through the 5,000 sq. foot house and will venture room by room through immersive film inspired scenes complete with  actual set props, live actors, and state of the art lighting and audio.  You never know what may be lurking around each corner.

At Stage 48: Script to Screen, you’ll get an up-close look at the original costumes and hand props that created some of the scariest moments in the horror genre, including Pennywise’s and the Losers costumes from “IT,” The Annabelle doll, and costumes worn by the demon Bathsheba in “The Conjuring,” plus an array of eerie pieces and collections that are too twisted to mention.

Featuring Halloween-themed activities, music, food and drinks for purchase, and spine-tingling walkthroughs from iconic movies such as  “IT”, “The Conjuring,” and  “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

Scare-amount Ranch – Paramount RanchNew Event

2017 Update For nearly 100 years, Paramount Ranch has set the scene for hundreds of movies, TV shows, and photo shoots. That includes a number of monster, paranormal, and other supernatural films and shows, from “The Forbidden Trail” (1932) to “Van Helsing” (2004), and episodes of the X-Files and HBO’s Westworld. In keeping with that theme, the National Park Service will host a first-of-a-kind event on October 27 called Scare-amount Ranch.

The family-friendly Halloween event will combine elements of film history and nature. Kids activities will include making fake movie blood and nocturnal-animal-themed crafts. Groups can choose from two self-guided hikes into the backlot woods, one which will family-friendly, the other for those looking for a little scare. 

Other activities will include a screening of the 1966 classic Munster, Go Home, which was filmed at Paramount Ranch; selfies in the jailhouse; a spider zoo and bug trap; and ranger stations throughout the ranch grounds.  Haunting since 2017.

The Pumpkin Patch Haunted Maze

Exploring the atmosphere of the Day of The Dead, visitors of all ages can now enter the maze and experience a creative display of skeletons, aliens, and museum style scenes that capture the eerie spirit of Halloween. This is not a haunted house event where people in costumes jump out to scare you. Visitors can enjoy this unique Halloween art display. Pumpkin patch, petting zoo, magic shows.

The Haunted House of Sylmar

Lots of lights and special effects, a maze, a haunted graveyard, the witches quarters (with a bubbling cauldron) and the crazy butchers block. There will be over 10 characters ready to terrify trick-or-treaters.

The lil ones that are too terrified to come in the gate will be greeted with candy by a kid-friendly character. New haunt for 2009.

13 Nights of Terror

Bringing Scary back! This is a good old fashioned boo-fest, featuring an all-new professional haunted house from the original producers of the Haunt at the Queen Mary–back when it was “the must-do Haunt” in Los Angeles. Each night will feature special surprises: live entertainment, contests, prizes, “holiday shopping boutique” vendors, an onsite BBQ cafe, and much more. Proceeds benefits the nonprofit Gull Wings Children’s Museum.

For true family fun for the whole family, including small children, the Haunted House will be open for a lights-on matinee during the Halloween Festival and Family Safety Fair. Haunting since 2010.
