Movies to give you Halloween Chills

Going to a Halloween movie in October in Los Angeles is much more of an event than just sitting down with popcorn to watch a slasher.  There are numerous movie theaters combining live action with the silver screen.  Also it's a great time of year to catch a chill watching silent movies in large format and live music.

Due to an insane amount of Real Life™, this section has not been fully updated for 2011.  However. if you follow the links in the venues below, you can easily locate this year's shows.

bulletA selective list of this year's scary movies for your chills and thrills at your local movie theaters

We will be adding movie info up until the last moment because of the way they schedule shows.

Special Halloween Movie Presentations

Many theatres have special screens planned for Halloween and the weekend before.  Pick up a paper or hit www.MovieFone.com and check out the theatres.

Tasty treats range from Silent Movies to Cult Classics...

Mixed format - Movies & Actors

Just because a movie's on the big screen, doesn't mean you just sit there and watch.  Audience participation is so much more fun.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadowcast - Movie w/ live cast

If you're looking for the live theater presentation, click <here>

The ultimate Halloween midnight move show.  Get out the rice, your fishnets, clean underwear and get ready to time warp with the entire audience! Special days make this movie so much more fun because you'll have the best of the "live casts", extra events, wall to wall folks all ready to let go modern problems and reenact that dark and stormy night when the innocent meet whole wacky Transylvania group.  You may have no voice left by the time the movie is out... but it's a great stress relievers... as well as just nostalgic, naughty fun.

Please check the web sites for each movie theater to know what is allowed for props.  Some do have kits you can buy.  If you can buy in advance, do.  Halloween nights are crowded.  Remember to bring your ID!

These groups run specials for costumes on certain performances and also do other Shadowcasts.  Lots of different kinds of fun if you can drop your inhibitions.

bulletInfo: midnight showing will probably be the Saturday before Halloween - this varies by theatre. Check their listings the weekend before.
